Hot Stone Massage — 60 Minutes
Hot stone massage uses heat as its principal tool. Smooth basalt stones — volcanic rock, chosen because it holds temperature evenly and for a long time — are warmed in water to a controlled temperature, placed along the spine and at key points, and then worked across the body as an extension of the therapist's hands.
The reason it exists is straightforward. Heat opens tissue faster than pressure does. A muscle that would take twenty minutes of firm work to release will often let go in five once it is genuinely warm — which means the hour buys you deeper work than the same hour of hands alone.
How the session runs
You lie face down and the therapist places warmed stones along either side of the spine and, depending on your complaint, at the shoulder blades and lower back. They stay there for several minutes while the heat travels inward. Only then does the work begin — the therapist lifts the stones and uses them, held in the palm, to glide along the muscle with oil.
Stones of different sizes serve different regions: larger ones for the back and thighs, smaller ones for the neck and between the shoulder blades, and small ones placed between the toes when the feet are part of the complaint. The session alternates between stone work and hand work, because heat opens the tissue and hands do the precision. Sixty minutes of hands-on time.
Who it is for
Three profiles get the most from it. Guests with chronic stiffness — tension that has been there for months and has not responded to ordinary sessions. Guests who feel the cold constantly, with hands and feet that never warm up. And guests who work in cold environments: production halls, loading bays, market floors, anywhere the body spends eight hours with its muscle tone raised against the temperature.
It is also, simply, the most popular winter session on our list. Between November and March it outsells everything else, and for guests from the industrial districts we recommend it over deep tissue in those months as a matter of course.
When it is not the right choice
We will turn this session down in several situations, and it is better to know beforehand. Heat is not appropriate with an acute inflammation or a fresh injury — swelling, heat and redness in a joint means ice, not stones. It is avoided in pregnancy. Guests with uncontrolled high blood pressure, significant circulatory disease, diabetes with reduced sensation in the extremities, or skin conditions in the area to be worked should speak to their doctor first, and we will ask.
Reduced sensation matters more than people expect: if you cannot reliably feel temperature in a region, you cannot tell us the stone is too hot. That is why we ask rather than assume, and why the therapist checks with you at the first placement even if you have had the session before.
Price and practical notes
Hot stone massage is ₺3,500 for sixty minutes — the second most expensive single session on our list, because it takes longer to prepare and the stones require careful handling between guests. Between 10:00 and 13:00 sessions start from ₺1,200. The full list is here, and nothing is added at the exit.
Stones are washed and sanitised between every guest without exception. The temperature is controlled and checked, not judged by eye. If a stone feels too hot at any moment, say so immediately — it will be replaced, and no therapist here will take that as a complaint.
After the session
Expect to feel warm for a while and to sleep well. Drink water: heat plus circulatory work moves a good deal of fluid. Avoid a cold environment straight afterwards if you can — stepping from this session directly into a cold wind undoes part of it.
If you came with chronic stiffness, the useful comparison is not the next hour but the next week. Guests who book hot stone once a month through the winter report the clearest results, and that is a more realistic plan than expecting one session to reverse something that took months to build.
Frequently asked questions
How hot are the stones? Warm, not burning — heated in water to a controlled and checked temperature. The therapist confirms with you at the first placement.
What if a stone feels too hot? Say so immediately and it is replaced. No therapist here treats that as a complaint.
Can I have it while pregnant? No. Heat-based sessions are avoided in pregnancy; we will suggest an alternative.
I have diabetes. Is it safe? Speak to your doctor first, particularly if you have reduced sensation in your hands or feet — being unable to feel temperature is the real risk.
Why is it more expensive than other sessions? Preparation time and stone handling. The stones are washed and sanitised between every guest.
Is it better than deep tissue? Different. For cold-braced or chronically stiff muscle, heat gets in faster. For a specific mechanical knot, deep tissue is more precise.
